The meat is grated and pressed with water to extract coconut milk or cream, which are used as culinary ingredients. The fat content and extraction process determine the richness of the final product.

The meat is dried and shredded into fine or medium particles for baking, confectionery and dessert applications. The drying process preserves the meat and extends its shelf life.

Desiccated coconut manufacturing

The meat is dried or processed to extract oil, which is used in cooking, frying and food manufacturing. The oil's flavour and smoke point depend on the extraction method and the quality of the meat.

Coconut oil extraction

Coconut oil and extracts are used in lotions, soaps and hair care items for their moisturising properties. The whole fruit may be processed into oil or butter for these applications.

Cosmetic and personal care products

The stage of ripeness at harvest determines the firmness of the meat and the clarity of the water. Buyers specify mature nuts for processing and younger nuts for drinking, as maturity affects texture, flavour and processing yield.
